Copa Airlines flights from Toronto to Panama City Tocumen International Airport (code PTY) are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Flight departure time from Toronto is 7:55 am. Arrival time in Panama City is at 1:43 pm.

Flying time for non-stop flights between Toronto and Panama City is 5 hours, 30 minutes.

Minimum connection times

"These flight arrival and departure times allow you to connect perfectly to other Copa Airlines destinations in Central America, South America and the Caribbean," adds Marin. "Copa's return flights to Toronto give you all morning to either relax in Panama City or to fly in from other Copa Airlines destinations."

Copa's Hub-of-the-Americas offers seamless transfers. (Connection times average 90 minutes.) Baggage is checked to its final destination. If you are connecting to other destinations in Central or South America, or to Canada, you don't have to go through customs or immigration. You just walk from one gate to another.

Copa web check-in

Passengers visit the Copa Airlines website for web check-in before they go to the airport. Web check-in is available 24 hours prior to flights from Canada or the U.S.A. and up to 36 hours before flights from other destinations. Passengers can select seats for Copa flights, print boarding passes, add OnePass miles and later check their baggage at the luggage drop reserved for web check-in.

Passengers can use smartphone apps to check-in for Copa flights and show boarding passes on their Blackberries and iPhones.

Baggage allowance

Copa Airlines allows passengers two bags of 23 kg (50 lb) each and two bags of 32 kg (70 lb) to Brazil.

For business class, Copa allows two bags of 32 kg each, and for MileagePlus clients, three bags of 32 kg each.

Business class

Passengers flying business class on Copa Airlines have all leather seats. Special flight attendants assist passengers with meal selection, liquor and wine selection and other business class services.

In-flight services for economy class flights include complementary meals, soft drinks, wine and alcohol drinks, as well as free movie headsets, pillows and blankets.

Flight on-time performance

"Copa Airlines has one of the best on-time performances," says Laura Marin. "Panama is centrally located and at sea level. It has favorable weather and an excellent airport infrastructure, so passengers don't have flight delays caused by hurricanes, de-icing and snow storms.

Business class passengers have access to Copa Presidents Club VIP lounges in Panama City, Santo Domingo DR, Guatemala and San Jose, Costa Rica. In other destinations, they have access to VIP lounges operated by Continental and other airline partners.

All passengers also have access to great duty-free shopping, according to Marin.

Copa Vacations offers Central America and South America tours and hotels. Document and package delivery is also available through Copa Airlines Courier. Copa Cargo ships everything from live animals to oversized packages.

Visit Panama

Passengers on Copa Airlines can Visit Panama for Free, thanks to a joint promotion with the Panama Tourism Board Authority. For passengers with long connection times at Tocumen Airport, Copa Airlines and Panama Tourism offer a free shuttle bus from Panama City's international airport to MetroMall for shopping. Contact Copa Airlines or travel agents for details.

One more incentive for passengers to visit Panama is free travel medical insurance. Panama visitors receive 30 days of free emergency medical insurance by showing their passports at medical centers.
