VANCOUVER BRITISH COLUMBIA
ANNUAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

Vancouver boasts over 36,000 cherry trees in parks, boulevards and private gardens across the city. The annual city-wide cherry blossom celebration takes place in March, inspired by the Sakura festivals of Japan.

A Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Map is available on the website, marking the locations of some of the most beautiful blossom-viewing locations.

The festival also includes blossom picnics, inspired by the Japanese tradition of hanami, a Vancouver in Bloom painting exhibit, a blossom watch photography contest, plein-air blossom painting classes, origami workshops and haiku poetry presentations at the Vancouver Public Library.

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival includes music and celebrations at the Burrard Skytrain Station. Free screenings of the NHK Japan prize-winning documentaries take place at UBC Robson Place.
