PLACENCIA & CAYE CAULKER BELIZE LOBSTER FESTS

The annual lobster festival in Placencia Belize is held every June. In addition to traditional red boiled lobster, the tasty crustacean is served Creole style, barbecued, frittered and even dotted on pizza, accompanied by ice cold Belikin beer and fruity rum punch.

Hundreds of tourists fill Placencia restaurants and thatch-roofed bars, along beaches, and listen to punta, soca and reggae music.

The Belize lobster festival also has competitions and games for children, handicrafts and cultural performances, and opportunities to swim with whale sharks.

Placencia restaurants compete for the best lobster dishes and cocktails. Belize visitors can enter the Fisherman's Day Saltwater Fishing Tournament, a two-day competition for prize catches of barracuda, kingfish and giant lobster.

Caye Caulker lobster festival

The Lobster Fest in Caye Caulker is also held every June. The Belize festival honors the fisherman who comprise the only real industry on the island.

Besides enjoying great lobster and music, Caye Caulker visitors can indulge in water sports and manatee-watching.
