QANTAS AIRLINES FIRST TO FLY AIRBUS A380
TO THE UNITED STATES

Qantas will become the first air carrier to bring the Airbus A380, the largest passenger jet in the world, to the US on its Los Angeles-Melbourne and Sydney services. The first aircraft is scheduled to be delivered in October 2006.

As one of the key launch customers, Qantas plans to deploy four Airbus A380s on scheduled services between the USA and Australia. With an order of 12 A380 aircraft, Qantas can carry more than 500 passengers on its transpacific flights between Australia and America.

Qantas will operate its A380s in a three class, 501-seat configuration, on international services between Australia and the United States and on the Kangaroo Route from Australia to the United Kingdom.

The Qantas interior design for its A380 aircraft will feature special lounge areas in the First, Business and Economy sections, business facilities, Internet capability and advanced in-flight entertainment amenities. The Business class cabin will also offer the award winning, Marc Newson-designed Skybed sleeper seat, making air travel more pleasing for its passengers.
