China lures many big names in entertainment and sports. Recent performers in Beijing and Shanghai included Norah Jones, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Cyndi Lauper, Boys II Men, and the new-age duo Secret Garden.
Keyes and Lauper stayed at the Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing and also did some shopping.
The Shangri-La also hosted about 300 international male and female tennis stars, including Serena Williams, 2004 Wimbledon ladies' singles champion Maria Sharapova, Marat Safin, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Carlos Moya, and all other participants in the first China Open Championship.
