The 2005 World Masters Games will be held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, from July 22 to 31.

Organizers expect 16,000 athletes, ranging from 25 to 95 years of age. Athletes come from more than 70 countries. Their average length of stay will be nine days.

The games feature 27 sports — athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, bowling, canoeing, cycling, diving, golf, ice hockey, lawn bowling, orienteering, rowing, rugby, shooting, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, triathlon, beach volleyball, indoor volleyball and weightlifting.
