BRIGHTON ENGLAND OPENS EUROPE'S
FIRST SURFING MUSEUM AND NEW ENGLAND URBAN VILLAGE

Brighton, 53 miles south of London on the popular South Coast, has opened two attractions.

Europe's first surfing museum opened on the beachfront. It documents the history of surfing, from the 1770s to the present day, and Brighton's reputation as a fashionable seaside destination since Regency times. The Brighton Surfing Museum will display vintage books and magazines, photographs and the board owned by Britain's first professional surfer.

The New England Urban Village transforms 20 acres of central Brighton into homes and shops, including a college, community centre, public square and two new hotels. The first hotel is a 249 room Jury's Inn.

Myhotel group also opened its third UK property in Brighton's new Cultural Quarter. Costing £14 million, the hotel was designed by New Yorker Karim Rashid in 'digi-pop' style. It offers the latest in high-tech comfort and design.

At the annual Brighton Festival, held every May, some of the world's most cherished performers, composers, artists and entertainers entertain audiences. It is England's largest arts festival.
