SAN FRANCISCO SOLAR POWER PARTNERS
WITH SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS AND SIERRA CLUB

San Francisco, California, has the largest city-owned solar installation in the USA. The 60,000-square-foot solar array sits on top the Moscone Center, the city's principal convention facility. The solar power generation and energy efficiency will reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 35,000 tons (the equivalent of removing 7,000 cars from Bay Area roads) over the next 30 years.

A deal with Sharp Solar makes them the "official solar energy partner" of the San Francisco Giants. A demo solar unit and in-park kiosk will show fans how much energy is generated daily from panels installed in the park. Sharp Solar will measure whether fans or the sun generates more energy during day games with the "Noise (Energy) Meter."

San Francisco is the host city for Sierra Summit 2005, the Sierra Club's National Environmental Convention & Expo on September 8 to 11.
