The IAAF World Half Marathon Championships will be held in Edmonton, Alberta on October 1, 2005. The event is expected to attract 300 elite runners and approximately 10,000 spectators, organizers and participants.
Very popular in Europe, the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships have been held annually since 1992. The event has been held outside of Europe only once — in Mexico in 2002.
