Scottsdale Arizona's Boulders Resort & Golden Door Spa will soon be an all-organic resort, with an organic menu, cooking classes and produce. The Boulders is planning large-scale gardens on its grounds to grow produce, herbs and spices for the resort’s kitchens and organic in-room dining menu.
Guests and local residents enjoy Scottsdale's first all natural farmers market at the resort's festival marketplace, el Pedregal. On Friday evenings from 4 to 7 pm, el Pedregal Fresh Marketplace features seasonal produce from local farmers that is either certified organic, natural grown, or pesticide-free.
Opened in March 2006, the marketplace hosts musical performances and chef demonstrations in addition to farm-fresh produce. Resort guests can drop off their market purchases at The Boulders' restaurant, where chefs will incorporate the organic produce into gourmet evening dinners.
Also in March, Boulders Resort launched a new series of Light and Easy Spa Cooking Classes. Offered on the first Saturday of every month (excluding the summer), these two-hour interactive lessons focus on healthy organic cooking. The classes are open to both area residents and resort guests.
Chef Wendy Little is the new chef de cuisine at The Boulders Resort. Chef Wendy used her more than 14 years of organic cooking experience to implement an all-organic menu at The Boulders' signature award-winning restaurant, Latilla.
The Boulders' Golden Door Spa has also introduced a new organic wine list. A new spa sommelier guides spa-goers in their choice of wine, taking into account personal tastes and food pairings.
