Sihlcity is a new quarter, in southern Zurich, on the largest private construction site in Switzerland. Sihlcity blends a former paper finishing building, dating from 1911, with modern architecture to house 13 restaurants and eateries, 80 stores, nine movie theaters, a hotel and a fitness and wellness center.
New Zurich hotels
Four Points Sihlcity Zurich, by Arabella Sheraton, opens this spring. The new Sihlcity hotel has 132 rooms, a conference and meeting complex for up to 120 people, a restaurant and bar, as well as direct access to a fitness and wellness zone.
Switzerland's first Courtyard by Marriott opened in September at the other end of the city. The 4-star hotel, a two-minute walk from Oerlikon train station, has 152 rooms and two suites.
British star architect, Norman Foster, is renovating the more than 100-year-old Dolder Hotel on the Zurichberg. After four years of extensive renovations, this exclusive hotel will reopen its doors in 2008.
The Radisson SAS Hotel Zurich Airport is located directly opposite the departure terminal. The new hotel will have 329 rooms and 3,700 square meters of conference space when it's completed in fall 2008.
