AND ELEMENTS OF NATURE

Scottsdale Arizona's spas are catering to increasing numbers of men going to spas for relaxation, pampering and rejuvenation.

Willow Stream — The Spa at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess

The MVP Room, at Willow Stream — The Spa at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, is a specially designed treatment room that draws men with plasma screens, wireless headsets, leather and wood décor, multi-tasking massage beds, easy-to-understand spa treatment menus, the latest issues of sports magazines and business journals and even home-baked cookies. The walls are painted a masculine pumping iron gray. Spa therapists give male spa-goers shorts and t-shirts to wear instead of robes.

Spa at Camelback Inn

The Spa at Camelback Inn has a men's locker room with a massage room, a wet room and a facial room for spa treatments. The men's locker room also has a shave bar inside the steam room, a lounge with a plasma TV, a cold plunge and a Swiss shower.

The Defense Zone Facial for Men uses microbeads of volcanic pumice to buff away dry skin, clean pores and make shaving effortless. White tea, licorice, lemon, shea butter and malachite extracts hydrate and instantly soothe redness, tingling and other signs of irritation.

Spa Avania at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa

Spa Avania at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch has a private Gentlemen's Suite with a flat-screen TV and stocked mini bar. Spa treatments designed for men include a Golfer's Massage, a Barber Shave, a Men's Pure Performance Facial and a Gentleman's Manicure and Pedicure.

FireSky Resort & Spa

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants bought Caleo Resort & Spa in December 2005. After numerous renovations, it re-opened this month as the new FireSky Resort & Spa, which fuses the four elements of nature — fire, water, earth, and air.

The new resort has a bold, contemporary decor, with a soaring lobby and lounge dominated by a 28-foot-high fireplace. It boasts free Wi-Fi resort-wide, yoga and meditation TV channels and a signature “Forgot it? We got it” service. The new lobby lounge has an onyx-topped community table and a group of cozy day beds for socializing in front of the massive fireplace.

FireSky's 3,500-square-foot Jurlique Spa is the only Jurlique branded spa in Arizona. Guests can also enjoy spa treatments in the 204 guestrooms and suites, which feature flat-screen TVs, 300-thread-count Frette sheets, Carrara marble bathrooms and L'Occitane bath products. Spa treatments include skin vitality for men, traveler's tonic bath and "Get Rocked" stone massage.

Taggia, a full-service restaurant adjacent to the lounge, serves Chef Claudio Urciuoli's coastal Italian cuisine. Urciuoli uses fresh organic food, seafood flown in daily, imported artisan-crafted pastas, cured Italian meats and heirloom herbs and vegetables grown by local farmers.
