BEACHES TURKS & CAICOS ITALIAN VILLAGE

Beaches Turks & Caicos opened a new luxury included resort with a spa and waterpark in January 2009. Italian Village is located at Grace Bay in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands.

The US$125 million Turks & Caicos resort boasts a water park, which is 10 times larger than the original Pirate's Island area. Besides a lazy river, the water playground features twisting water slides and large wave pools.

Resort and spa

Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa has 615 rooms, with the addition of the 162-suite Italian Village.

The main building of Beaches Turks & Caicos has pastel bungalows amid flower gardens and palm trees. French Village overlooks gardens, a pool, Parisian bistros and a café.

Family suites

The Italian Village at Beaches Turks & Caicos includes 18 Imperial rooms, which enlarge the family suite with a living and dining room. Imperial rooms include Beaches Butler Service, a day bed and a pullout sofa to accommodate four additional people.

Family suites include a kids' room, which has bunkbeds, an Xbox 360® Game Garage Video Game Center and a plasma TV. A separate adult bedroom has a sitting area with a day-bed or pull-out sofa, another plasma TV, a mahogany four-poster bed and a white Carrara marble bathroom with his and her sinks and a Jacuzzi.

The top category suites at Beaches Turks & Caicos also feature exclusive Butler Service.

Surf simulator

The 45,000-square-foot waterpark at Beaches Turks & Caicos is one of the biggest in the Caribbean. Seven new water slides, up to 300 feet long, increase the total number of waterslides in the Pirate's Island water playground to nine.

In the surf simulator, families ride boogie and surfboards on whitewater and surfing waves. Water cannons, cranks and water sprays add more wet fun to the pool and water playgrounds.

The zero-entry pool is designed for toddlers, while the splash deck pop-up jets and the meandering lazy river provide places to cool off.

Beaches Turks & Caicos has seven pools and four Jacuzzis, in addition to the water park in Italian Village. Guests also have access to a fitness center with Cybex equipment; scuba diving and water and land sports, including equipment.

Camps for kids

A Kids Camp with a pirate and mermaid theme, at the new Italian Village, offers programs for children aged six to 12. Activities include video arcade games, a larger Xbox 360® Game Garage Video Game Center, beach science programs and areas for playing games and participating in the Crayola® Art Camp.

At Camp Sesame, a Beaches Ultra Nanny reads stories to infants and toddlers. Sesame Street characters entertain the children. Other kids' activities at Beaches Turks & Caicos include three stage performances with Sesame Street characters, Sesame Street parades every week, comedians, magicians and a kids-only pool with a swim-up bar.

Teen activities

Liquid, a water-themed nightclub above the water park, entices teenagers with a sunken dance floor and other activities, including music and Internet access. Trench Town is a teen-only lounge. The black light game room offers teenagers pool, football and basketball.

A Red Lane Youth Spa features hairbraiding, manicures and pedicures, as well as other treatments suitable for teens and tweens. At Scratch DJ Academy, teens can learn how to spin vinyl.

Teens can sign out free Xbox 360 games from the Beaches Turks & Caicos Xbox 360 Game Garage. They can also cruise the Caribbean Sea on The Kitty Kat, a Beaches Resort catamaran.
