Kimchi (pickled vegetables with chili peppers) is eaten with almost everything. Less spicy are galbi (spareribs) and bulgogi (pork marinated in garlic and mild spices) both barbecued over charcoal at your table. Other popular Korean foods are bibimbap (rice mixed with vegetables, egg and chili sauce), toenjang-tchige (soup made from fermented bean paste and vegetables) eaten with rice, naengmyeon (chewy noodles in cold broth), and samgyetang (chicken and ginseng broth).
Shopping Specialties:
Antiques and reproductions, jogging shoes and sports equipment, custom-made dresses, suits, shirts and shoes, leather and eel-skin goods, fur coats, jade, smoky topaz and amethyst stones and jewelry, dolls dressed in traditional costume, ginseng, silk, paper masks, fans, kites, porcelain lacquerware, brassware and bamboo products.
