Canada's newest and only premium cruise travel magazine, deckchair, launched in February with a 96-page issue. Published quarterly in February, May, August and November, deckchair covers ships, destinations and cruise lifestyles.

Cruising is the fastest growing vacation style today. Cruise Line International Association's (CLIA's) 2004 report on the health of the cruise industry estimated that 10.6 million people sailed globally on their member ships. That year, 435,000 Canadians took a cruise vacation, a 31% increase over 2001. New ships are launching on a regular basis — 68 since 2000. And cruises are becoming more exotic.

Published by Dockside Media Group Inc., and modelled on its successful sister publication in Australia, Cruise Passenger, the new cruise magazine is available on newsstands for $5.99. Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) travel customers, who have cruised in the past two years, will receive an additional 20,000 copies.

deckchair offers cruise news and advice, a helpful world cruise calendar, information on large luxury passenger ships, small expedition and catamaran cruises and stories about popular and exotic ports of call.
