FLORIDA FILM LOCATIONS IN HOOT MOVIE

The movie HOOT is based on Florida author Carl Hiaasen's first book for kids. Produced by and with music from Jimmy Buffett, it stars Logan Lerman, Brie Larson, Cody Linley and Luke Wilson.

HOOT was filmed in Florida, at the 35-acre tropical estate of The Bonnet House Museum & Gardens in the Fort Lauderdale Area and on the Gulf Coast island of Boca Grande. The film locations capture the natural wonders of Carl Hiaasen's Florida childhood that he romanticizes in the book.

The plot of the HOOT book and movie tells the story of a middle school boy, who is a loner and new in school. The bullies in his school literally toss him in the direction of some owls that need help, starting a funny and meaningful adventure.

Designed by Frederic Clay Bartlett, a noted painter and art collector, Bonnet House showcases the home and studio of a recognized American artist. Visitors can walk along a nature trail, or see it on a guided golf cart tour.
